On the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, Hugh Jackman gives out scratch-lottery tickets every Friday to below-the-line crew members as a thank you and to recognize that many people working on a film are “unsung heroes.”

A 9-year-old boy named Domenic, who has cystic fibrosis, participated in a Make-A-Wish event where he thought he was simply calling Jackman. Jackman surprised him by showing up in person (via radio) and doing some of his favorite “Wolverine” poses, talked with him, and gave him tickets to his show.

Jackman has volunteered with organizations like Share The Harvest Farm, which grows and provides fresh food for families in need in the East End of Long Island. He helped transport produce etc.

He participated in the Feeling Nuts campaign (Check One Two), which encourages men to perform self-examination for testicular cancer and spread awareness.

After his “From New York, with Love” concert at Radio City, Hugh took time after the show (in the cold) to greet fans outside, sign autographs, hug fans (including Dannielynn Birkhead, daughter of Larry Birkhead), making her dream come true.

After visiting Ethiopia and meeting a coffee farmer named Dukale, Jackman founded Laughing Man Coffee & Tea.

The business is tied to the Laughing Man Foundation, which supports coffee farming communities, sustainable practices, and programs in education and community development.

As an ambassador for World Vision, Jackman has urged support for relief in crises such as the Haiti earthquake, and engaged in World Vision’s microfinance, agriculture, and health programs in countries like Ethiopia and Cambodia.

Jackman received the Order of Australia Medal in recognition of his efforts toward eradicating poverty.

He reposted a video of a middle-school blind student named Ashton, shared by the student’s mother, and asked his followers to help him get in touch so he could wish the kid an amazing school year.
