Adele Laurie Blue Adkins
After the tragic Grenfell Tower fire in London (2017), Adele visited the Chelsea Fire Station. She brought cakes, and spent time chatting with the firefighters, having tea, offering her thanks, offering comfort. It was spontaneous and personal — not for show.
During one of her concerts (in Los Angeles, 2021) Adele helped a fan on-stage when he wanted to propose to his partner. She paused the show, had the audience quiet, and created a moment so the proposal could happen meaningfully, then followed it with a song to seal the moment.
At her special “An Audience with Adele” at the London Palladium, Adele brought her former English teacher Ms. McDonald up from the audience, surprised her, and embraced her. She expressed how much the teacher had meant to her. This is a deeply personal, one-on-one emotional act, even though done in public.
During one of her “Weekends with Adele” shows in Las Vegas, Adele noticed a man in the crowd holding up his phone with a photo of what appeared to be his late wife. She paused at that moment, dedicated “Someone Like You” to him, and spoke with visible emotion about how small stories like his deeply moved her when she walks through the audience.
In June 2024, at her Las Vegas residency, Adele spotted a young fan, Valentina, wearing a miniature version of a custom Schiaparelli gown Adele had worn previously. Adele paused her performance of “When We Were Young” to compliment Valentina and interact with her — a sweet and memorable moment between artist and fan.
A fan posted on Instagram, tagging Adele and saying they missed new music, saying they’ve enjoyed her content through COVID, etc. Adele saw the Instagram Story and replied with a sweet direct message:
“You look like so much fun! I’m absolutely chuffed you like my music. Keep loving your life, it’s so lovely and infectious to see from every angle ❤️.”
Before the start of one of her world tour shows, Adele visited a 12-year-old fan named Rebecca Gibney who was seriously ill. The fan’s mother said the visit was like making a dream come true.
Adele has made private donations to refugee charities. For example, she declined to lend a track to a charity album for refugees but instead donated to refugee causes privately.
She has supported MusiCares, SANDS, Keep a Child Alive, among other organizations.
She has also used her performances (charity concerts) to raise funds: e.g. Little Noise Sessions benefiting Mencap; Keep a Child Alive, etc.
