What follows is my report on AI. I fed this report into an AI engine, asking it to return a funny version. Here’s what happened: AI on AI.
We are wise to be wary of artificial intelligence. We should research how it can be stopped if it gets out of hand. Perhaps it already has. Is it possible that AI created by corporations and programmed for their benefit convinced the American people that what’s currently happening in the economy is OK? Is it possible AI is steering the economy and that the people in power only believe they are calling the shots?
On the other hand, AI may be very beneficial in everything from helping with relationships to medical breakthroughs. AI may guide us away from potential disasters. Humans may need intervention. For instance just before the first atomic bomb was detonated, scientists working on the Manhattan Project calculated there was a three percent chance the explosion would set the entire atmosphere on fire, instantly killing us all. They went ahead and tested the bomb. Your author’s hope is that AI will preempt such dangerous assumptions in the future.
Many people are concerned about job loss. Think about it, when AI is combined with robotics, anything humans can do will be be done better, needing time to sleep, going on strike, or complaining.
You’d think that will put us all out of a job. Try to think of a job that AI-equipped robots couldn’t eventually do better. Baseball umpire? Truck driver? Surgeon? Lion tamer? I don’t think so.
However, your author believes AI will bring such prosperity that we won’t need to work ever again. Jobs will be a thing of the past. In the same way that residents of Arabian countries where oil was discovered didn’t have to individually work to become rich, the same will be with AI. Anything we could want will be provided, and we’ll get something like stimulus checks to cover all the rest.
If AI can do art, music and everything else better, what will be the point of living? I don’t believe we have the answers for that yet, but I believe as our livestyles evolve, we’ll think of something. Maybe we can just focus on good relationships, and the things that interest us, such as playing pickleball. Of course, that may be better played by AI robots also.
