If a person has had a bone-marrow transplant from a donor who has an allergy, the recipient may develop the same allergy. Brand-new allergies to hay fever and nickel have been documented. Furthermore, if a recipient has an allergy and gets a transplant from a non-allergic donor, the recipient may not only be cured of the life-threatening disease, but also be relieved of the allergy.
