Puma: Big Ol’ Housecat

Pumas, scientific name Puma concolor, are also known as mountain lions, cougars, panthers, and catamounts. They are native to the Americas.

Unlike bigger cats, pumas don’t roar. Instead, they purr, chirp, growl, and scream.

They not be as big as lions and tigers, but they are still big cats, weighing up to 220 lbs (100 kg).

Pumas can run up to 50 mph (80 km/h) in short bursts.
